Hello Mr. Hieu! Firstly, can you let us know about what tides of fate brought you to TCS and made you stay with TCS until now?
After graduating from the Aviation Academy in 2010, I inadvertently met my friend whose relative worked in the aviation industry. On that occasion, I knew about TCS’s recruitment. Intending to get to know more and gain interview experience, I somehow succeeded in landing the job.
When I began working here, I was assigned to the position of Tally Clerk. I was very lucky to meet brothers and sisters who gave me detailed guidance and created a comfortable working atmosphere throughout my shifts. Now, they’re my co-workers and friends, still teaching me something new every day.
A good working environment is the main reason why I’m working with TCS and may be further into the future.
So far, I think I’m very fortunate to have made the right decision. The more I work, the more interesting the job becomes, and the more I think it suits me.
What was your first impression/memory when you initially joined the company’s YU?
In May of 2010, I participated in a member’s admission ceremony held by the company in Da Lat. In the Gala that night, I was very impressed by the solidarity within the company. The comfortable and fun atmosphere in combination with singing beside the fire helped me to come out of my shell to be more sociable and open, cultivating my positive view on doing Youth Union activities.
So when you were elected as the Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, how did you feel?
When I became the company’s Deputy Secretary, I felt extremely happy and proud as I had achieved something great in the Union’s operation. But, at the same time, I also understood that I was entrusted with more duties and reliance from everybody. That’s why I feel like I must always try harder and be more enthusiastic in every activity.
As the company’s Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, what do you need to do to contribute to the activities of the youth as well as the production and business activities of the company?
As Deputy Secretary, I proactively participate, as well as, organize activities within TCS and the Corporation, contributing ideas to plan suitable and timely engagements for the grassroots Unions and TCS Union.
Concurrently, as Vice-Captain of the Export Department, I often share ideas and advice with my superiors so the business activities in the company can grow to be even more effective, improving service quality.
Can you elaborate on your job and how you balance between your job and the Youth Union?
To be specific, my job at the moment is Vice-Captain of cargo intake and loading team of the Export Department. My main tasks include supervising all cargo export activities within my shifts, ensuring the safety of all cargo and flights, and making sure they are signed off on time.
To balance between my job and the Union, I often do Union work in off-peak hours of the day or after my shifts. I strive to complete both my job and the Union’s assignments.
In your opinion, what is the most important factor for the youth of the aviation industry?
In my opinion, I think non-stop creativity and innovation are the most important factors. It’s very simple, if the Union’s activities stay the same year after year, it will be very boring for the Union’s members.
This also applies to businesses. If businesses don’t innovate and change to integrate, they will fall increasingly behind. There are many approaches to innovation: change in content & appearance, change in how one works, and how one approaches activities.

Can you tell us more about the outstanding activities of the company’s YU in recent times?
On March 26th, TCS’s YU organized the 2019 TCS open soccer tournament to celebrate the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. We also participated in the 2019 VNA Soccer League for the Southern Region. We placed fourth in the Tan Son Nhat area.
On Remembrance Day of July 27th, the Union visited Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in Cu Chi, Phuoc Vinh An town – “sworn brothers” of TCS’s Youth Union along with Unions of Vinako and TECS.
On September 1st, we organized Full-Moon Night at the company for 430 children offering more than 1,500 gifts.

People often assume that the Union’s activities are formalistic without creativeness. What do you think about this?
It’s totally untrue. Because the Youth Union is always the core force, representing the youth in the company’s business activities. With the strong creative ability that lies within each of the Union’s members, these activities will always stay fresh.
A clear example is the VNA Soccer League for the Southern Region organized by the Youth Union of VNA. It created a beneficial recreational outlet for staff members from various departments as well as opportunities for Unions in the Southern Region to socialize and strengthen their bonds.
