“Tiến Quân Ca,” lit. “Army March,” Vietnam’s National Anthem, which was already an epic piece of music, was made impressive tenfold by fully utilizing the advantages of the contrabass and brass instruments, making its notes linger in the air indefinitely. Following the command of Sir Simon Rattle, classic pieces of music are gracefully and delicately played, capturing the audience, and gradually and gently entering their minds and souls. Just as what the well-known Conductor used to say, don’t try to understand classical music, enjoy it and let your heart lead you, and so too let LSO fulfill our mission of sharing the joy with everyone.

While the famous Adagietto section in Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No.5 continued to reaffirm the legendary Conductor’s extraordinary mastery, the lighter The Young Person’s Guide To The Orchestra by Benjamin Britten showcased perfect teamwork, coherence,f and skillfulness of the artists’ almost superior performing skills. Each and every note was executed with flawless precision like gears in a machine yet full of emotion, leading the audience through a passionate ride to an epic end.

Before that, autumn’s romantic vibes were sophisticatedly depicted in Hector Berlioz’s Overture Roman Carnival, Johannes Brahms’ Allegretto Grazioso, and Allegro Con Spirito sections of the Symphony No.2 in D major and Erik Satie’s Gymnopédie. Antonín Dvorak’s Slavonic Dance brought excitement to the show by employing playful and light melodies to depict a country festival, leaving a tender mark inside the listener’s mind. This was such a welcoming and intimate night concert at the highest level of artistry, not always a common sight in Vietnam.

It was an honor for Vietnam Airlines with the Hanoi People’s Committee, AquaOne Joint Stock Company, and Hanoi Tourist to present Hanoi residents with such a meaningful gift as an effort to promote the world’s cultural quintessences to the public.
